Adolescents/Teens 12-17

Treatments for Adolescents, 12–17

Here at Fremont Hospital in San Francisco, CA, we offer a range of adolescent mental health treatment options, including both inpatient and outpatient programs, designed to meet the needs of adolescents up to 17 years of age, with a variety of emotional and behavioral problems. These include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, severe disruptive behavior and suicide concerns.

Trauma at a young age can have profound effects on development and behavior, and mental health treatment for teens can be a balancing act. Every child is different and has their own story and experiences. At Fremont, we assist developing effective adolescent mental health treatment options through coping skills and resiliency, along with strengthening their support network. This can help address underlying trauma, and set them up for long term success.

Compassionate, understanding behavioral health support

For adolescents struggling with depression or a mental health issue, help and hope are closer than you think.

Adolescent Treatment Services

We believe that recovery programs for teens aren’t one size fits all. That is why we are proud to offer a variety of programming to fit you and your child’s needs. Our mental health programs for young adults include:

  • Adolescent Inpatient Services (age 12-17): Our inpatient mental health programs for teens is a residential program that provides 24/7 monitoring and care for children and teens struggling with mental and behavioral health. This program is designed for those who need more intensive care that a home environment can’t provide.
  • Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program: Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) can be seen as an in-between step, to help your child or teen transition from inpatient care to outpatient care. This can help set your child up for long-term success once they leave the Fremont community. While this can be a useful transitionary tool, you do not need to be a current or past patient of the inpatient program to enroll in our PHP.
  • Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Our intensive outpatient program is a day program designed to provide mental health support at a dialed back rate from either of our hospitalization offerings. Our IOP provides mental health treatment for teens who don’t need 24/7 monitoring, but would benefit from mental health programming as part of their daily routine.

Each of these programs is designed to address different treatment needs and levels to suit your teen or child. Learn more about each of these programs on each dedicated program page.
